![]() Use it to digitally capture your ideas as napkin sketches or produce artwork on-the-go. With the same paint engine as the renowned SketchBook Pro software, SketchBook Express delivers sophisticated brushes and pencils. You shouldn't need to extract the brush files after downloading. Sketchbook will automatically extract the brushes into the program when you select the zipped folder. ![]() Not many people make them, unfortunately. But I've stopped because I don't use custom brushes anymore. You hear pros say it all the time, and I've learned it's true: most custom brushes are a crutch for noobs and tend to make your work look amateur, because the digital pattern will be too obvious (the strokes won't be organic enough), or the perspective of the pattern will be wrong, or the contrast or tone will be wrong because you're relying on a brush to do for you what you don't really know how to do by hand yourself, so you can't tell when it's not quite right. A round brush, an inking brush, and an eraser are all I ever use now. If, however, you want to learn how to make your own SB brushes, here is a tutorial series: You can use this tutorial to adapt PS brushes for SB. #SKETCHBOOK PRO BRUSHES DEVIANTART HOW TO# If you find a PS brush set here on DA with thumbnails of each of the brushes (such as this one: you can use a freeware program like GIMP or Inkscape to delete the white, leaving the black brush pattern on a checkerboard transparent background. Save it as a PNG to preserve transparency, then open it on its own layer in SB (so it's above the background layer). Then you can use the same steps as he shows in the tutorial to create a brush from that PNG that will be pretty close to the PS one.Our friend Jason Heeley has been busy building an incredible library of custom brushes. Hundreds of them, each more interesting than the last. If you know Jason’s work, you are keenly aware that he’s a master at creating landscapes and environmental textures in his concept art. Using his brushes is pretty much cheating when it comes to painting natural environments. #SKETCHBOOK PRO BRUSHES DEVIANTART FOR MAC#ĭownload Jason’s Art Brushes and install them in SketchBook for Mac or PC and use them in your own art, whether that’s creating concept art or just beautiful landscapes. This is Jason’s go-to personal toolset that contains a huge range of brushes, erasers, and effects. ![]() It’s truly amazing how many great brushes Jason put into this free set, but these 35 brushes are actually only part of the story.īelow is a beautifully illustrated chart showcasing each brush’s capability. He recently opened his own store on Creative Market, and this set is one of 15 sets in his Pro Brushes Collection. ![]() The entire collection contains 286 separate brushes (!) and has different sets for drawing foliage, trees, rock, grasses, ground surfaces, clouds, and snow.
